Take Me Out to the Ballgame

Probably second to superheros is Jackson's love for baseball. We play almost every morning together and play again in the front yard with Bryan when he gets home. He has become quite a fabulous player for an almost 3 year old. He hits "power hits" all the way from our side yard out into the easement from his tee and hits about half of the pitches we throw to him. Often I hear Jackson in the backseat of the car or in the grocery store pretend playing baseball. "I be the batter. You be the catcher Mommy. Here comes another one. Crack! Power Hit! Yeah Jackson! Another one coming Mommy..."

Outside of his playing and pretend playing he also loves reading books about baseball and watching the Astros on t.v. with Bryan. When he watches he is in constant dialogue with Bryan saying, "What's his name, Daddy? What he doing Daddy? Run! Go Astros!" He has been wanting to go to a game so we jumped on this excitement and took him to a game Thursday evening. We had a wonderful time even though he was a little disappointed that he didn't get to go out on the field. He really didn't understand why he couldn't take a turn batting. He says his favorite things about going to see the Astros were eating his helmet sundae and standing up and singing at the 7th inning stretch. His rendition is a little different. Straight to the tune, but with much better lyrics I think. "Buy me some crackers, and peanuts, and ICE CREAM! hmmmm hmmmm GO ASTROS! Ol Ball GAME!"
We stayed until the end of the 7th inning which I thought was awesome for a busy little guy. I'm glad we left when we did because we didn't get home until 10 and the whole way home he was talking to us about the game and telling us make believe stories about being an Astro when he grows up. What a fun family night!
