Last Thursday we celebrated Jackson's birthday by going to the zoo, which is one of Jackson's favorite places. It couldn't have been a more perfect day. For late August it wasn't that hot and there was hardly anybody there because of school starting that week. It was so nice because we were able to let Jackson out of his stroller a lot and explore without the fear of him getting lost in the crowds. We had such a wonderful time being kids again alongside him.

After lunch we headed back home for Jackson's nap time which was followed by cake time. I made the cake and tried for the first time to decorate it myself. This was a test run for the party we had for him this weekend. It actually turned out pretty good for my first try, but had it not I don't think Jackson would have cared. He loved us singing Happy Birthday to him and blowing out his candles, not to mention devouring his piece or should I say pieces of cake.
he was blowing so hard that he started to spit
he was determined to blow them out all by himself

After cake he opened up his presents. We got him his first tricycle, a tee ball set, and some books. The tricycle was a hit. He has been pedaling non stop ever since.

We put aside all have tos and job searching the whole day and focused on celebrating our precious little guy and the blessings he has brought to our lives. I still can't believe he is 2!

Our family loves the zoo as well. There are lots of coupons on Freckletown.com for Katy and Houston so the next time you're going out, check it out. They even have a FREE movie code on Mondays for any Redbox machine in the area.
Jackson, looks like you had a GREAT birthday. I am so happy. You are so precious and so loved.
