Rowdy Rebel Camping Trip '11

In early April we headed to Lake Bastrop for our third annual playgroup camping trip, and like the two years past it did not disappoint! Seven families represented made for full boat rides, endless conversing and playing, late night group chats, and though there was a burn ban inhibiting our campfire tradition, there were still smores galore.

A long hike, followed by hours and hours on my dad's new boat we trailered in, sand shoveling fun on the pocket beach, and playing between the cabins left my little ones more than ready for nap times and early bed times. I have been blessed with great sleepers even in the most different of sleeping arrangements. You would think all of us in the same room would not fare to well with a 14 month old and 4 1/2 year old but it worked great mainly due to the fact that we were dog tired by the end of each day. On the last night, Jackson, despite all of his friends being deep in dirt play and flying down the sidewalk on the plasma car he asked to go to bed at 7:30. Shocked were we but very thankful to be the only parents with no kid responsibility by 7:45 that night. Each late night was filled game playing and just soaking in the goodness of being able to begin and ...drum roll please...end conversation after conversation.

On the way back from this amazing three day weekend despite the very active days and late night catching up with friends the exhaustion I thought I would feel didn't even come to mind as I examined how refreshed I felt. It feels so good surrounding yourself with families of similar value where you can just feel the goodness of God intermixed in our activities and has such power in encouraging our personal family life to be the best we can make it.

My favorites of the many pictures captured by me and the other paparazzi mamas.  Enjoy!
