2 Lakes, 2 Uncles, 2 Fantastic Vacations

This summer amongst our many outings were two fabulous lake trips. One, to Lake Travis in Austin, TX with my family, and one to Lake Keowee in South Carolina with Bryan's dads side of the family. Me combining two trips into one blog as you can imagine will be quite lengthy, but it's hard to leave out details when there were so many fun memories.

Our trip to Lake Travis was the first big Angle family trip that we've taken. We all lead such busy lives and to be quite honest feel like we're on vacation when we just visit my mom and dad's house that we have never gone on one all together. But when my Uncle Wayne told us about this fabulous house his friend had generously offered for him to use for the weekend and that he wanted to have it be a big family thing we shouted for joy, loaded up the car with lake gear, and were on our way. We had so much fun hanging out together in the oh so beautiful house, with the oh so beautiful view of Lake Travis, but more importantly loved spending time together with a true vacation mind set. We spent most of our time in the pool instead of the lake because the trek down to the boat ramp was quite the hike due to the drought and though there was a golf cart to haul people and coolers to the stairs, the stairs were no ordinary stairs. Picture about 6 times your average house stairs, with slats in between and about half way down where there would normally be water, the handrails stopped, and then at the bottom there was about a 4 foot gap between the end of the stairs and the ramp that you had to hoist yourself or swing children onto. Hence the reason for more pool time, but since the pool was no shabby place this was not a hardship.

The highlight of the trip was an Indian arrowhead hunt led by my dad and his brother, my Uncle Wayne. They have fond memories of one they went on as children and wanted to recreate this for the boys and that they did. Uncle Wayne ordered a dozen genuine arrowheads, my dad made the boys real hunting arrows, thankfully not with bows, cowhide necklaces, and feather headresses for each so this was no shabby hunt. Really nothing was shabby about this trip. Us Angles know how to do it right I think. The boys had so much fun racing down the winding hillside path to find their arrows and will be a memory that will last a lifetime. I'm sure they will be recreating this for their own kids some day.

My favorite night was when we dually celebrated Elizabeth and Craig's I want to say 11th anniversary along with my Uncle's birthday. My mom and dad cooked a fabulous steak dinner and then for dessert we had yummy birthday cake. We then watched a movie in the movie room and here is where my favorite part enters...the baby flutters that I had been feeling became very distinct kicks that went on for about ten minutes. Gosh I want to say I was only 14 weeks at this point and they continue to get stronger every day. I think I'm going to have another busy boy on my hands.

What a fabulous first Angle family vacation!

One Uncle, lake, and fabulous trip down, one to go.

We just got back a week ago today from one of the most beautiful places I have ever been. Lake Keowee outside of Greenville, SC is one of those lakes that takes your breath away. It's not overpopulated yet and those that have chosen to make it their home or second home in Bryan's uncle's case let the beautiful wilderness guide their establishments.

Jackson and I headed up early with Honey and Doc due to an unexpected meeting Bryan had at work. We met Uncle Ricky and Aunt Sonya at their house in Atlanta and headed to the lake the next morning. Bryan was to be picked up at the Greenville airport at about 10 that night, but long story short, and he will kill me for sharing this, but he went to the wrong gate. So his arrival was pushed back several hours and then a couple more due to the fact he had to come in to Atlanta instead. Quite hilarious now, but definitely not at the time.
Like all of us did when we arrived at the lake house, his tension from the slip up melted right away. I had no idea how beautiful it was going to be. We spent a lot of time exploring the lake and saw so much beauty, but the most beautiful of all was tucked away in one of the coves. A natural waterfall with a beach leading to it. Sonya and Ricky had two fabulous porches along the back of the house which is where we spent the other good chunk of our time visiting and catching up with them, Bryan's grandparents, and parents. It was so nice hanging out during a non holiday rush time. I'm looking forward to our invite up there next summer...hint hint! Thanks for such a fabulous time!
